I have been privileged to work with many fine students during my years of teaching shamanism. Yet I am always humbled to discover that in this work, there are no beginners. Each of us arrives with innate gifts and talents that are waiting to be discovered, then crafted and polished into a method and an art that allows us to be in service to others. I have personally worked with, and know well, the practitioners below. I recommend them highly.

Marilyn Geddes has a private practice which offers intuitive counselling through the vehicle of the shamanic journey, for both people and animals, in person and at a distance. Some of you may be familiar with Marilyn’s book, Ask the Very Beasts: Words of Wisdom and Comfort from Unexpected Sources, which highlights both the depth of spiritual communication that animals (and the natural world) have to offer us, and the incredible gifts that enables Marilyn to receive it.

Charmaine Ross began her study and practice of energy medicine in 1997. Her introduction to natural healing was through Reiki levels I and II. Since then she has studied Incan energy medicine with Peruvian shamans, and has been initiated into two Incan shamanic rites. She has also studied Native American healing traditions through workshops with Fishwoman, a Traditional Cree Elder, and is currently in the Apprenticeship Program led by myself.
She describes her healing practice in this way: “My personal philosophy as a practitioner is related to my understanding of the first law of thermodynamics which states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change forms in the Universe. I work within the laws of the universe; I do not need to understand them to know that they can work effectively. (The Universe does so much that science has yet to grasp.) My focus is for the best interest of the client. My work with them allows me to function as a conduit to connect their energy with the energy forms available to us in the universe, and so to promote healing. My client experience covers a range of conditions, from mental and emotional support, to sports injuries, burns and physical injuries, and disease conditions including cancer. Any request for healing is treated with great respect.”

The first time Debbie Newman used her ‘gift’ was as a young child. While that incident has now long ago faded from her memory, her mother continues to tell the story. Growing up, she never really considered it a skill or something special, it was just who she was. In recent years as she has purposefully explored her spiritual path, she has come to realize the value of this gift and has recently opened a private practice where she can now be available to help others in a more focused and dedicated way. Debbie Newman is one of those rare individuals with an exceptional God-given healing gift. She naturally holds what many others strive to achieve through intensive training. She is the real thing.

***Food for the Soul***
Robyn Johnson offers a very valuable service. Through her amazing shamanic inner sight, she is able to tune in to an individual’s soul essence, discover the nature of who they really are, then request guidance and suggestions for foods that are complementary, neutral, and best avoided. The information she receives directs us to how we can nourish ourselves on a physical level, yet reach deep into the core of our being to nourish our soul. This work is done at a distance and Robyn emails the detailed results. The recommendations that result do not fit into any previously known category of determining which foods are beneficial and which are not, as the results are very personal and often surprising! Using the same gift with animals, she has been able to offer specific dietary advice that helps them to heal from emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds. I personally follow very closely the food guidance Robyn has provided me, and ask her to re-do the journey every year or two, as I continue to grow, change, and heal.
